TikTok Announces European Transparency and Accountability Centre

by | Apr 28, 2021

TikTok has announced plans for a European Transparency and Accountability Centre. The social media platform, which has more than 100 million people across Europe active on TikTok every month will provide experts with an opportunity to visit and see first-hand how teams at TikTok approach securing safety, data, and privacy.

In addition to content moderation, the Centre will also offer detailed insight into recommendation technology, and TikTok’s commitment to data privacy and security.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Centre will initially operate virtually, with virtual tours expected from June 2021. TikTok plans to establish the Centre in Ireland, and anticipate that it will be fully operational by 2022.

TikTok launched its first Transparency Center for moderation and data practices in March 2020, based in Los Angeles.
